  • Kindergarten Cutoff Age Changing

    The date by which children are eligible to attend kindergarten is changing state-wide beginning next school year.  Traditionally, children have been eligible to attend kindergarten as long as they turned five years old by October 1st of that year.  However, based upon a change in Kentucky law which was passed in 2012, beginning with the 2017-2018 school year, children will need to be five years old by August 1st to be eligible for kindergarten.

  • Making Up Snow Day: February 20, 2017 (President's Day)

    At Tuesday night’s (1/24/17) board meeting, the board agreed to use February 20, 2017 as a make-up day for the snow day that we had on 1/6/17.

    February 20, 2017 (President’s Day) will be a student instructional day.

    Monday, February 20, 2017 (President's Day) will be a student instructional day.


  • Preschool Enrollment Opportunity

    The Montgomery County Schools Preschool Program will be conducting an enrollment opportunity for students’ ages three and four who meet eligibility requirements. Families interested in enrolling may contact our building at (859) 497-8724 and select extension 3 or stop by our office at 212 N. Maysville Street, Mt. Sterling. Applications will be available to complete and screening appointments scheduled. Office hours are Monday- Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

    Before and after school childcare is available for students. Should financial assistance be needed in order for your child to attend daycare, you may contact our District Childcare office at (859) 497-8724 extension 212. Staff will be able to assist you with any questions regarding the program.

    Enrollment documents needed are as follows: 
    Birth Certificate
    Social Security Card * Optional 
    Immunization Certificate 
    Dental Screening
    Vision Exam
    Proof of Residence

    Now enrolling preschool students ages 3 and 4 who meet eligibility requirements.
