Beginning with the 2017-18 school year, children will need to be 5 years old by August 1st to be eligible for kindergarten, per state regulations. It is recognized that some children may have advanced academic and social skills and are ready to begin their formal education before they reach that age. In order to provide for these children, the Board of Education has established a policy for early entrance.
Children who will turn five years old after August 1st may eligible to enroll in the kindergarten through an early entry application, provided they meet criteria established by the Board. The application for early entrance testing must be made, in writing, prior to April 30, 2017 and returned to Montgomery County Schools' Central Office at 640 Woodford Drive, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353.
