Mapleton Families,
Welcome back Mapleton! I hope this message finds you rested and ready for a new school year! We are anxiously awaiting your return on Thursday, August 11th! I would like to extend my gratitude to the staff, students, parents, and community members of Mapleton Elementary for a great first year. It is truly an honor to serve each of you! Mapleton Elementary will continue to be a high performing school that equips all learners with knowledge and skills to achieve academic growth. We want our students to display responsible citizenship while becoming lifelong learners. Mapleton will remain a safe learning environment where student success is a top priority!
In preparation for the new school year, teachers have attended professional development that will enhance instructional practices and prepare us for a new year of learning. During the 2022-2023 school year, we’re implementing new curriculum that gifts each student with rich, authentic literacy experiences. Through interactive read-alouds, guided and shared reading, mini-lessons, and phonics word studies, students will gain exposure to texts that challenge them to think critically and with purpose. Our goal is for every child to develop a love for reading by engaging in meaningful language and print activities. We’ll also continue working diligently to meet the diverse needs of our students through small group instruction and intervention supports.
Building foundations for social/emotional supports will also remain a focus for Mapleton this year. Each student will practice setting and achieving attainable goals, establishing and maintaining positive relationships, and making responsible decisions. We can’t wait to showcase our student leadership and give back to the community. Mapleton’s service-learning projects will continue, as well as our after-school activities/clubs.
Our Mapleton family continues to grow with new students and staff each year. Please help us welcome Mrs. April Baker (Kindergarten), Mrs. Hannah Goodman (First Grade), Miss Meagan Lombardi (Second Grade), and Miss Micah Fruth (Third Grade). Mrs. Kerri Henderson and Miss Jaleesa Rudd will be joining our Special Education team. We can’t wait to introduce additional members, such as our new Assistant Principal and FRYSC Coordinator, at Open House!

Trust, communication, and collaboration are all needed to continue to build a positive and successful school culture. Most importantly, all students need to feel loved and supported as they grow throughout their elementary journey. Partnering with families is vital for the success of each student. We value your opinions and look forward to hearing your feedback. We invite you to become an active participant in our school community through volunteering, joining our PTO, or attending school events. PTO will have an informational booth set up at Open House. Important dates and information will be sent weekly in our school and classroom newsletters. We will also use other outlets to communicate information throughout the school year. These include; Bright Arrow one-call services, Mapleton’s website and social media accounts, student agenda books, as well as Class Dojo and Remind applications.
My door is always open! Please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns you might have throughout the school year. casey.greene@montgomery.kyschools.us 859-497-8752.
