PD Frequently Asked Questions

• 24 professional development hours must be completed by each certified teacher no later than May 1st of the current school year.

• If you were hired after the year began, check with the district Personnel Department (497-8760 or email Candace Hunt) for total hours you must complete.  

• Teachers can view their PD hours submitted at the district level PD website.

Professional Learning:  Learning that increases educator effectiveness and results for all students (Learning Forward).  This may occur at any time during the school day or outside of school hours.  This may be formal or informal learning (ex. A planned book study or reading a book related to a topic to improve your classroom practice).

Professional Development:  24 hours of professional learning that is required by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and Montgomery County Schools.  (03.19, 03.19AP.1)

• Must occur outside of the teacher’s regular school day

• Address the goals of  Montgomery County Schools (CDIP/CSIP)
