Cultivating Excellence in Everything We Do!

Construction Update 10/12/2026

Construction continues across the Montgomery County High School campus as the district’s historic renovation project enters its next stages.

Significant progress is being made across the campus, with construction currently active at five sites: Building 1, the Building 2 gymnasium, Building 4, the new tennis facility, and the greenhouse. As work continues, careful planning and coordination remain a priority to minimize disruptions to student instruction and daily school activities.

Progress is clear at the new tennis facility, where blacktop has been laid, and fencing is now being installed as the courts take shape. Once complete, the facility will provide Montgomery County High School tennis student-athletes with first-class, championship-level facilities and dedicated home courts for practices and competitions for the first time in more than two decades.

Significant progress is also being made in Building 4, which will house the new welding shop and is scheduled to become the first completed building of the overall high school renovation project in August 2027. The new welding shop will relocate the program from its current location on Calk Avenue to the high school campus, eliminating the need to transport students between locations and creating greater opportunities for collaboration among career and technical education programs. Construction of the welding shop is nearing a major milestone as crews prepare for the roof to be installed. Once the roof is in place, crews can move forward with interior construction and finishing work.

Three classrooms in Building 4 have not yet undergone construction. One classroom is scheduled to begin renovation during Fall Break, October 12–16, allowing crews to begin a portion of the work while students are away from campus. Construction on the remaining two classrooms is scheduled to begin in February 2027.

Elsewhere on campus, the Building 2 gymnasium is currently under heavy construction. Work also continues in Building 1, with the downstairs portion scheduled for completion in February 2027.

Careful phasing remains especially important while school is in session. Construction schedules are being coordinated to reduce the impact on classroom instruction and daily student activities whenever possible. The district is also preparing for a particularly active construction season beginning in May 2027, when crews will have greater flexibility to move work forward as the school year comes to a close.

While much of the work happening now represents individual pieces of the project, each milestone moves Montgomery County High School closer to the larger vision for its campus. The multi-year renovation will modernize learning spaces, expand opportunities for students, and improve facilities that will serve Montgomery County for generations to come.
