Early Entrance to Kindergarten
Kindergarten in Montgomery County Schools
Enrollment
Any child who turns 5 years old on or before August 1, 2026 is eligible for kindergarten, per state regulations. It is recognized that some children may have advanced academic and social skills and are ready to begin their formal education before they reach that age. To provide for these children, the Board of Education has established a policy on early entrance.
Children who will turn five years old between August 1 and September 30, 2026 may be eligible to enroll in kindergarten through an early entry application, provided they meet criteria established by the Board. The application for early entrance testing must be submitted in writing prior to April 30, 2026, and returned to Montgomery County Schools' Central Office at 3400 Indian Mount Drive, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353.
The District must receive applications for early admission to kindergarten no later than April 30, 2025.
Questions regarding kindergarten enrollment or other issues regarding school registration should be directed to Sierra Martin at (859) 497-8760 ext. 6019.
