Kindergarten in Montgomery County Schools

Enrollment

Any child who turns 5 years old on or before August 1, 2024 is eligible for kindergarten, per state regulations.  It is recognized that some children may have advanced academic and social skills and are ready to begin their formal education before they reach that age.  In order to provide for these children, the Board of Education has established a policy for early entrance.

Children who will turn five years old after August 1, 2024 may be eligible to enroll in kindergarten through an early entry application, provided they meet criteria established by the Board. The application for early entrance testing must be made, in writing, prior to April 30, 2024, and returned to Montgomery County Schools' Central Office at 3400 Indian Mount Drive, Mt. Sterling, KY  40353.
